LG on Wednesday announced the G Watch R, its round smartwatch powered by Google’s Android Wear. Made of stainless steel and a calf-skin strap, the G Watch R features a plastic 1.3-inch OLED display with a 320×320 pixel resolution.
With an artisanal elegance, the LG G Watch R boasts a refined aesthetic that is reminiscent of traditional timepieces. Replete with a circular watch face, this elegantly crafted Android wearable has classic curves encased in a strong, durable stainless steel frame and carries a suite of watch faces that are accessible with a simple touch of the display.
Internally, the watch packs a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB of storage. Thanks to its IP67 rating, the G Watch R can with stand water (30 min. at one meter), wind, and dust.
Other details include a 9-axis gyroscope, acceleromter, compass, barometer, and a 410mAh battery. Launching in select markets in the fourth quarter of 2014, it’s not clear what pricing LG will put on the G Watch R.
