If there was an award for the most sparkly wearable at CES 2015, Misfit and Swarovski would have won hands down. Misfit and Swarovski have come together to create the first solar powered wearables or smart jewelry on the market. The Misfit Swarovski Shine Collection takes Misfit’s Shine wearable and adds Swarovski energy crystal technology which enables solar charging. The collection includes two wearables and numerous accessories so you can make it your own.
The wearables should be completely waterproof and include Misfits usual suite of fitness and sleep tracking, but add Swarovski’s energy crystal technology to do away with the constant need to charge batteries. If you need to charge your Swarovski Shine, just turn the crystal towards the light and you should be good to go. It will be interesting to see if the collection can gain any sort of traction in the segment and if it works as advertised. Potentially, a solar power technology could be a game changer for electronics in general.
The Swarovski Shine Collection is available for pre-order in the United States, exclusively on Misfit.com. The collection will go on sale later this spring at Swarovski retail locations in the U.S., China and Hong Kong. Sets including the activity tracking crystal and various accessories will start at about $170 and go up to $250.
